Severe Typhoon Haima is moving steadily towards the coast of Guangdong, local winds will strengthen gradually overnight and there will also be swells. The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No.3 tonight. According to the present forecast track, Haima will make landfall over the coast of eastern Guangdong during the day tomorrow.

Local weather tomorrow will deteriorate significantly with frequent squalls and heavy rain. Seas will be rough with swells. There may also be flooding in low-lying areas. Members of the public should remain vigilant and take all precautions as early as possible.

Shenzhen is also impact as the Shenzhen Government also alerted to the public this afternoon that all the activities may be shut down tomorrow if Haima is getting closer on tomorrow early morning. All the schools in Shenzhen has been asked to shut down tomorrow.

Shenzhen Terminals have stopped all empty containers pickups and all laden containers gate-ins. Hong Kong Terminals are still in operations until further notice. Most airlines have cancelled their cargo freighters in/out HKG with the period of 11:00am to 22:00pm on tomorrow.

So, this makes more serious backlogs stuck at HKG airport cargo terminal warehouse and also forwarders warehouse (if NO space release From airlines till this moment) during this extreme tight market period. There is chance of issuing No. 8 or higher signals by tomorrow, then our Hong Kong office will be closed until all typhoon signals are removed.
